The Excess 13 catamaran benefits from the 40 years of expertise of the Lagoon shipyard, where Excess models are built, as well as the close and longstanding collaboration between the Beneteau group, VPLP architects, and a brand-new partnership with Gilles Piaton for the interior.
The Excess 13 ushers in the new generation of Excess, while maintaining the brand’s distinguishing hull lines and window shape. A generation designed around the principle of “Less is more” with a series of improvements focusing on onboard functionality and comfort, including improved ventilation and foldable platforms at the rear that secure access to the sea.
This new catamaran is captivating like others in the line, with its asymmetrical gray hulls, rear-mounted mast, and unmistakable long roof line. The Excess 13, like all the Excess family members, is a sailboat designed to deliver thrills to its crew. Not the thrills of high performance, but rather the pleasure of feeling a living sailboat responding well to the helmsman.
The helm is located as close as possible to the rudders, and is connected to them by lines rather than the more typical hydraulic steering. As a result, this design offers superior sensations, along with fine hulls with reduced wetted surfaces, and ultra-lightweight furniture. The aft-located cockpit creates a spacious foredeck perfect for relaxing at anchor. The Excess 13 guarantees you thrilling sensations and maximum comfort, wherever it takes you.
A lively cruising catamaran should be a relatively lightweight vessel, but also one that requires lower energy consumption and is capable of autonomy. The Excess 13 weighs only 300 kg more than the previous Excess 12, and it has a significant sail area, especially on the optional Pulse Line version.
To aft, the helm benches are extra wide, allowing comfortable seating for several people.
The efficiency of the systems has been meticulously worked on, including improved ventilation allowing for smaller air conditioning units with lower energy use, as well as an intelligent rainwater collection system integrated into the roof!
The Excess 13 still features its two trampolines at the bow and a kitchen facing the cockpit.
All cabins have ample headroom and their entrance doors also serve as closet doors, a clever way to reduce the weight of this beautiful catamaran.
The shipyard offers the Excess 13 in two versions. In the 3-cabin version (with individual heads), the owner’s hull offers a dressing room as well as a desk area.
The 4-cabin version (all with individual heads) is particularly well suited to charter operations.
